About Us - Women
The CPSU/SPSF is committed to furthering women's industrial rights to benefit women members, and also their families and communities.
Over 50 percent of CPSU/SPSF members are women.
The CPSU/SPSF works with you on many issues to protect and advance women's rights in the workplace. Issues the Union is currently working on include:
- pay equity the NSW branch won pay increases for many members under the new Equal Remuneration Principle;
- maternity leave the CPSU secured a year's paid maternity leave at the Australian Catholic University - the first such provisions in Australia;
- parental leave the CPSU/SPSF is currrently running cases to secure parental leave for long-term casuals; and
- flexible working arrangements branches are working to ensure that members can better balance work and amily issues.
The CPSU/SPSF has a Women's Committee, which is made up of members from each of the State branches. The Committee meets regularly to compare progress across the nation, to share information and to plan campaigns.
The Union is also represented on the ACTU Women's Committee and makes sure that the interests of CPSU/SPSF members are represented, as well as providing valuable input into national and international union campaigns to improve the lives of working women.
