University General Staff Awards
There are three general Awards that set the Basic Conditions of Employment for University General Staff. Current Pay Rates and Conditions, on top of these basic Awards are also set by the Enterprise Agreements for General Staff at each University.

Higher Education General and Salaried Staff Award ( HEGSS ) This is really a loose leaf collection of all the (state based) University awards and agreements, that existed in every State University and College of Advanced Education, except Victoria, in 1989. Most of the conditions in this Award have been overtaken by the University specific Enterprise Agreements made over the last 10 years at each University. It is in the process of being "reviewed" by the AIRC. A copy of the new Award will be posted to this site when the Commission has made a decision on how the new HEGSS Award should work. All university General Staff have their Contract of Employment set by the
Higher Education Contract of Employment Award This award says how each type of job should be treated, depending on how a Staff member is hired. That means what sort of Contract of Employment:- eg Full Time, Part Time,Fixed Term,or Casual and the conditions that apply to termination of employment.
