UNSW agreement update
10 January 2003
The CPSU is close to reaching agreement with UNSW management on wage increases for general staff, as well as improved career advancement, job security and other improvements in conditions.
The CPSU is hopeful the University will offer a pay rise of at least 12% over 3 years for general staff - a cumulative increase of 12.6%. Further, the University looks set to agree to a $1,500 one-off payment for full time staff on certification of the new Enterprise Agreement by the Australian Industrial Relations Commission [the CPSU hopes this will be some time in March 2003]. Part time staff will receive the payment on a pro-rata basis with a minimum payment of $1,000.
The University will also provide an additional $500 payment for any staff member whose position has not been "broadbanded" in the new classification structure within 18 months from the implementation of the new Agreement.
While agreement with University management appears immanent some details remain unresolved. Members of the CPSU are invited to attend a general meeting on 22 January where the general staff union representatives will provide a comprehensive report back. Meeting details to be advised.
Negotiations with University management resume on 23 January 2003. The CPSU hopes a final Agreement will be reached by the end of February.
Members of the CPSU will have the final say on the agreement. For further information contact the CPSU's Enterprise Agreement Negotiating team:
