By David Carey
Federal Secretary (SPSF Group) - CPSU Joint National Secretary

After 18 months of negotiation, a new General Staff Enterprise Agreement has been agreed between UWS and the CPSU/PSA. The agreement will shortly go to a ballot - it is being conducted by the university.

The CPSUPSA is urging a 'Yes' vote.

Some of the benefits achieved by the CPSU/PSA, without any loss of existing conditions, include:

Pay

  • * 20% pay rise over the life of the agreement (3 years), plus $1000 increase in your base rate of pay and $1000 sign on bonus (for on going and fixed term employees).
  • * Introduction of new Level 3 General Staff rates from 14 January 2005.
  • * Increased casual loading to 23%, starting on 14 January 2005.

Conditions

  • * Conversion process for long term casual staff.
  • * New, fairer job evaluation process.
  • * Enhanced career planning and development, including reimbursement for study, study leave, Higher Duties Allowances and broadbanding.
  • * Improved managing change clause, including increasing redundancy pay to 60 weeks with minimum of 20 weeks and increasing salary maintenance to 12 months.
  • * More flexible personal leave.
  • * Paid parental leave increased to 26 weeks.
