Subsite 2NSW DOCS workers return to workStriking NSW Public Service Association Department of Community Services members returned to work Thursday after the government promised to employ an additional 100 workers - with strings attached. An analysis of the offer will be posted on this page shortly.
PSA members yesterday voted to strike for 24 hours over staffing level issues. "Whenever anything goes wrong senior management will blame the caseworkers and more recently blamed victims relatives and even Childrens Court Magistrates," said Mr Cahill. The action of members was not about more money but to highlight the growing dissatisfaction and frustration experienced in the field as a result of inadequate staffing. Mr Cahill added, "Our members have become sick and tired of being sick and tired and want immediate action to address the staffing crisis". It should be stressed that the Association members do not intend to walk away from children in need. Anyone requiring urgent assistance should contact the Department of Community Services' Helpline.
