The Women's Electoral Lobby is calling on women in the Senate to vote against the IR Bills.
The new IR Bill will increase inequalities in Australian society as employers have more power, in most cases, than employees and this is particularly the case for women, the Women's Electoral Lobby said today. |

Vale Val Buswell 16 May 2005
Long time equal pay activist Val Buswell died earlier this week. Val worked here entire life for working women’s rights and equal pay. She first intervened in Equal Pay cases in 1950. Even in her later years she organized and encouraged women to fight to improve working conditions. In 1999 she organized the Business Women’s Professional Association to reject the Reith More Jobs Better Pay Bill. |

Five in six (85%) working women miss out on tomorrow’s tax cuts. The Howard Government’s latest tax cuts which take effect from tomorrow are so unfair that five in six working women (85%) — all those earning less than $52,000 a year — will miss out on a tax cut.
