Women
New website for working women
Working women will have access to important health and lifestyle information following the launch of the Labor Council of NSW's Union Women@Work website today.
Launching the site, too be housed on the popular LaborNet portal, Labor Council of NSW secretary John Robertson said there was now a recognition that women represented the trade union heartland.
"Todayıs trade union heartland areas with 40 per cent union density are the schools, hospitals, supermarkets and the public sector. These are areas where women dominate the workforce," Mr Robertson said.
The site, which is sponsored by the peak NSW union body, contains up-to-date information on womenıs rights at work including information on violence and bullying in the workplace, sexual harassment, discrimination and conditions
of employment.
The site will also contain healthy lifestyle tips, the latest book and movie reviews and information on whatıs going on in the community
"Women have the added burden of juggling work and family responsibilities and this site will give them advice on how to achieve this balancing act," Robertson said.
